Top Question in My Dating Community this Week👇🏽
Q: “How can I approach a woman at the gym without coming off as creepy?”
Step 1…
Let’s reframe the question.
Instead of worrying about how not to come off as creepy, focus on how to come off as confident and helpful.
Remember, what you focus on expands.
If you keep worrying about being creepy, you're more likely to come off that way.
But if you focus on being confident, helpful, and friendly? That’s the vibe you’ll project.
So the question now becomes…
How can approach a woman at the gym while coming off as confident and friendly?
First, one of the best approaches is my First Pitch Method. Watch this video to learn it.
And catch this video too for some extra context.
Now, the beauty of meeting someone at the gym is that…
As opposed to a one-off opportunity, hopefully, this is someone you see regularly.
If that's the case, you have the "Mere Exposure Effect" playing in your favor.
The Mere Exposure Effect is a psychological phenomenon that suggests people develop a preference for things simply because they are familiar with them.
Here's how you can use it to your advantage:
📈 Consistency: Try to show up at the same time and place. The more she sees you, the more familiar and comfortable she'll become with your presence making it easier to start conversations and form a connection.
🕙 Approach at the Right Time: Catch her when she's on her way in or out, makes eye contact with you, is walking on the treadmill next to yours, waiting for a class, or filling up her water bottle. There are lots of opportunities, just don't interrupt her workout—no one likes that!
🗣️ Small Talk: Start with light conversations about common gym topics. Ask how her workouts are going, if she's training for something in particular, what her fitness goals are, how long she's been a member, or even about the equipment. This keeps interactions casual and pressure-free.
🙂 Friendly Gestures: If opportunity strikes, save her a spot in class, share equipment, or partner up for activities. Small gestures can go a long way in building a connection.
🙋♂️ Ask Her To Hang: When you’re ready, suggest grabbing a coffee or smoothie or going for a walk after class or after your workouts one day.
At the end of the day, you wanna be cool and not come across as too eager.
